George St. Pierre (GSP) Rushfit DVD Review

I am excited about reviewing the new GSP Rushfit DVD home workout system ever since I saw it coming out a few months ago.  I have always been a big supporter the P90 home exercise programs which you can see here in our P90X2 review and thought this was similar. Since George St. Pierre is one of the best MMA fighters in the UFC and is known for his training regiment.  He continually has the ability to tire out his opponent if needed since he is in top cardio shape.  So, GSP knows what he is talking about when it comes to fitness and training, but can he get that across on a DVD?  Now with the George St Pierre workout you have the chance to train with him and get ripped just like him with the GSP RUSHFIT Workout System.

GSP Rushfit DVD Workout SystemThe GSP rushfit DVD system focuses on:

  • Strength
  • Endurance
  • Core Stability
  • Power
  • Flexibility
  • Balance and Agility

Price of GSP Rushfit

Compared to the system I talked about earlier the P90X this is a lot less expensive.  So, there isn’t a comparison between the two when it comes to price.  Rushfit GSP knocks P90X out on this one.

What Comes With George St. Pierre Rushfit DVD System?

Get Rushfit Exercise ProgramThere are 6 DVD’s with GSP rushfit & workout details:

  1. Strength & Endurance Workout
  2. Abdominal Strength & Core Training
  3. The Fight Conditioning Workout
  4. Explosive Power Training
  5. Full Body Strength & Conditioning Workout
  6. Balance & Agility and Stretching For Flexibility

In this Rushfit review we have focused on overall health and fitness and not hardcore MMA training with skills like; Muay Thai, grappling, kickboxing, and other striking skills involved.  So, this will not take the place of a MMA gym but will get someone into better shape.

The Grappler’s Manifesto Book Review

The Guide to Strangling, Torquing, & Bludgeoning Your Way to Victory in The Cage

Even though the sub title sounds like a serial killer article this book is a very details instruction book on the MMA ground game and grappling.  The techniques in the book are some of the best MMA Fighters, however there is nothing mentioning that (see my complaints section below). The photos in this book are big and very crisp, clear, and concise. The images are a great addition to the text that explains each movement or technique in easy to understand detail.

Book Description:

This book  is massive!  With over 350 pages of no-gi grappling techniques.  It is well written for the MMA combat student with instructors like:

  • Greg Jackson & Randy Couture
  • Antonio Rodrigo Nogeuira & Dave Camarillo
  • Jon Fitch & Forest Griffin
  • Neil Melanson & Karo Parisyan

Which is a ton of talent for one book!

The Grappler’s Manifesto explains the various phases:

  • Guard
  • Turtle
  • Cross-body
  • Front and back mounts

However, there aren’t any take-downs like guard techniques, including sweeps, submissions, and passes.

Things I liked About The Grappler’s Manifesto

  • It gives you a game plan and breaks down different categories of Grapplers and how to attach and defend them.
  • There is no small talk, it get’s started right away with details and ends with details.
  • Most books are lopsided either in offense or defense but this book splits it right down the middle.

Things I didn’t Like About The Grappler’s Manifesto

  • The books layout and grappling techniques seem a bit random and not organize or thought out.
  • There is nothing that explains who the guys demonstrating the techniques in the photos.

Overall:

I would recommend this book for anyone who is a beginner in Mixed Martial Arts and just starting out. However, if you are an advanced to intermediate level MMA student then you can move on since you know the moves and techniques already.

P90X2 Review Series – Will It Work For MMA?

“I don’t have access to a MMA training gym in my local town, and I was wondering if I bought the P90X2 workout system do you think it would help me train in MMA?
-Troy P.

Answer:  Although I think the P90X workout system and the P90x2 are one of the best fitness and workout training systems out there I don’t think it would take the place of authentic MMA Training.  If you could do the P90x2 workout series in addition to a program like The PIT WORKOUT along with some technical expertise from Greg Jackson in his book The Ground Game, I think you would be moving in a very good direction in training for MMA since you don’t have access to a local MMA training Gym.

So, if you take this advise you will be in great shape and on your way to learning some great fundamental ground game techniques from Greg Jackson’s book and well on your way in your MMA training.  However, when and if you have a chance to get into a MMA school nothing is better then getting on the mat, ring, or octagon and rubbing elbows with other MMA fighters.

TRX Suspension Training Professional Package

If your like me I had never had any experience with suspension training or with suspension exercise straps. So, it was a surprise when I found out the TRX Suspension Pro Pack was the product I would be reviewing.

But, needless to say I was open for the challenge and actually excited because I have read (previous TRX Review of Standard Trainer) and seen the results they can produce which is very dramatic and quick muscle gain, increased flexibility, core strength increase to say the least. The guy I knew used the first version of the TRX Suspension straps along with the Jungle Gym XT and got very ripped, so I was anxious to see what I thought.  more…

I consider myself a pretty athletic guy since I train for MMA, Jiujitsu, Muay Thai, and Taekwondo in the past so I figured I would get the hang of these pretty quickly. However, it is so simple I don’t think there is any skill at all to get used to these. I think a computer geek could start working out with these in less than 3 minutes so don’t worry about a learning curve because there isn’t one.

What Is Included In The TRX Pro Pack?

  • Suspension Trainer (P2)
  • 65 Min. training Video (DVD)
  • 36 Page Workout Guide
  • 2 Bonus Workouts (not DVD’s but are on paper)
  • Mesh Workout Bag

Although the TRX Suspension Pro Pack can be used for packing on the muscle it is actually better for improving your cardio fitness and you can do this through timed sets.  You can quickly and easily go through super-sets by going from exercise to exercise very quickly.

Pro’s of the TRX Suspension Training Pro Pack

  • Extremely easy to pack up and move.  If you travel for a living then you can’t beat this gym in a box.
  • There is nothing better than stretching the muscles while you are working them.  Awesome of flexibility.

Con’s of the TRX Suspension Trainer Pro Pack

  • The price is high but if you use it then you will easily make back the investment in a year.
  • The 2 bonus workouts ARE NOT on DVD but are in the box.

In Conclusion, the TRX Suspension Trainer is a very good suspension and bodyweight training exercise system.  Although the TRX system can be used to build muscle mass this is better for cardio and maintenance training while you are away from the gym.  However, this can easily be used as your primary source of exercise if that is what you are needing.  So, in all we recommend the TRX Suspension Training Pro Pack System.
