MMA Glove Reviews

Title Gel Bag Gloves

The Title Gel Bag Gloves are some of the best bag gloves on the market today.  They are extremely comfortable and look incredible when you take them out of the box.  These gloves are the ultimate when it comes to working on the heavy bags.

The Title Gel Power Weighted Super Bag Gloves are the gloves you will want again and again when you are training on your MMA striking and boxing skills.

One important factor in boxing and MMA training gloves is if they are true leather or not. Leather tends to cost a bit more but lasts so much longer. These boxing bag gloves are genuine leather on the outside so they will be very durable and outlast any other type of gloves.

What Are The Best MMA Gloves?

In this MMA Gloves review we wanted to help you find the answer to, “What are the best MMA Gloves?”  We get asked almost daily, “What are the Best MMA Gloves that I can buy?“  However, we always hate it because we have to ask a question with a question and that is, “What are you going to use them for?“  It is crucial to know first and foremost what you are needing the gloves for.  Most MMA gloves are broken down into 2 primary categories and those are:

  • MMA Training Gloves: Used for day to day training and striking drills.
  • MMA Fighting Gloves: Used inside the ring in a competition.

If you are going to be using them for hitting the heavy bags, grappling, striking drills then you will need the MMA training gloves.  The MMA training gloves are made with more padding and foam on the knuckles to prevent injury to your training opponent.  This extra padding and foam also protecting your wrist and knuckles when hitting something hard like a heavy bag.  These gloves range anywhere from 8oz. to 16oz.  If you are going to be using them mainly for striking we would advise more foam while if you are grappling you can get by with the 8oz.  The 16oz. MMA gloves are getting to the size of boxing gloves so they will supply you with plenty of support and padding while hitting heavy objects like the heavy bag.

The MMA fighting gloves typically have less foam padding that range from 4oz. to 6oz like the Official UFC MMA gloves in our last review.  In the fighting gloves there is just enough foam to not break the knuckles of the fighter who is throwing the punch.  Most people think it is padding for the person being hit, but that is actually wrong it is for the person throwing the punch so their knuckles don’t crack or break.

The second factor in getting the best MMA gloves for your situation is to know the size you need.  Here is an article about MMA gloves size chart to help you determine what size you need.  One tip is to get the gloves half a size small so that way they stretch to the perfect fit.

Top 3 Best MMA Gloves Reviewed for Training

  1. MMA Training Gloves – These are the #1 most popular training MMA gloves for a reason.  They work great and look even better.
  2. Hybrid MMA Fight Gloves – These gloves are fantastic for training and give you that extra padding for heavy bag work.
  3. Wristwrap Heavy Bag Gloves – These gloves give you extra support with the wrist straps and are very comfortable.

UFC Official MMA Glove

UFC Official MMA Fight Glove

Probably the most widely known symbol of MMA along with the Octagon is the UFC MMA gloves.  So, I was excited when I found out I was going to review these gloves and needless to say I had pretty high expectations since after all they were the official UFC MMA gloves.

When I received these at my front door I immediately opened up the package and they meet my expectations of the typical quality of UFC MMA Gear, although they were tight when I put them on (see Con’s below).

Pro’s of the UFC MMA Gloves

They look cool and would be good for display but I am not convinced these are the best gloves for MMA training.  I think some better MMA training gloves are the Wristwrap Heavy Bag Gloves By Title MMA or the Multi-Purpose MMA Glove by Combat Sports, but that is just my opinion.

UFC Official MMA GloveCons of the UFC MMA Gloves

Size -  At first when I put these on they feel like pretty soft leather but they fit very tight which can be good tif they stretch to fit.  My hand measurements are 6.5 inches in length and about 4.5 inches in width.  With this size of hand I decided to get a Large size.  The question is will these things stretch to fit? Although, the good thing about it is that after about a week of wearing them these fit like a glove (sorry for the pun).

Quality - The one thing that I was surprised at was the quality of the seams is not very well done.  I believe that for the money there are other higher quality MMA gloves on the market especially for the price of the UFC fight gloves.  I am guessing the gloves that we get to buy are not the same one the MMA fighters use in the Octagon.  After about 3 weeks of intense training these gloves looked pretty ratty and shreddd, so my advise is to stay away from these.

Price - These gloves are on the higher end of the scale when it comes to MMA training gloves, but on the lower end when it comes to quality.

Where to Get The UFC MMA Gloves (although I don’t strongly recommend it unless for display, see above for details)
